Pharmacognosy Laboratory

The Pharmacognosy Laboratory is a specialized academic facility dedicated to the study, identification, evaluation, and authentication of crude drugs obtained from natural sources, especially medicinal plants used in Ayurveda.

Academic Objectives

To train students in macroscopic and microscopic identification of crude drugs, understanding plant morphology, and recognizing adulteration or substitution in herbal materials.

Practical Training

Students perform powder microscopy, section cutting, drug identification, and evaluation of raw herbal samples under faculty supervision.

The laboratory supports learning through herbarium sheets, authenticated crude drug specimens, charts, slides, and reference collections.
